Diagnosis of pregnancy is usually done by urine pregnancy test card which shows 2 lines. It should be done within first 2 days of the missed periods. If the test is positive, then the person is pregnant.
The common symptoms of pregnancy are as below:
- Absence of menses
- Excess vomiting
- Lethargy (weakness)
- Mood swings
- Frequent urination
Ultrasound is done in first 3 months of pregnancy to confirm the pregnancy and detect twin pregnancy (also the types of twins).
The ultrasound scan also known as Anomaly scan is done in the 5th month and is very important wherein the baby is studied in detail to identify any structural mal formation.
The ultrasound scan is also done in the later stage of pregnancy i.e. 8th or 9th month to note the weight of the baby and adequacy of water content.
